Accounts Payable Variance Specialist

Carter Lumber Accounts Payable Variance Specialists are responsible for working with our locations and vendors to ensure that discrepancies between invoices, credits, RMA's, and receipts are reconciled in a timely manner.
Provides field Vice Presidents weekly summary reports based on research and/or communication follow ups with vendors and locations.
A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
Requirements:
Understand inventory movement in an average cost inventory systemMust have Accounts Payable experienceAbility to gather data, problem solve, and summarizeStrong follow up skillsPossess strong analytical and time management skillsEffective oral and written communication skillsAble to interact within a team environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
Responsibilities:
Data EntryEnsures that credits and debits are posted to the correct accounts.
Provides weekly summaries to field managementVariance ReconciliationReconciles purchase orders and invoice variances.
Researches and resolves problems by communicating with stores on how to correct receipts or processing various inventory transactions in the Point of Sale system.
Corresponds with vendors and responds to inquiries.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
