Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the evaluation of mechanical equipment, and performs or schedules needed repairs.
Using a computerized maintenance management system, carries out preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment.
Provides emergency off shift support as needed and appropriate Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in reconstructing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems; Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections Lays out, constructs, modifies, repairs and maintains a variety of manufacturing production machinery.
Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system using stock parts; inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Realigns, refits and adjusts components such as spindles, clutches and brakes.
Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.
Starts devices, machines and equipment to test performance and operation following repair.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Repairs or replaces defective parts.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts as needed.
Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Electrical trouble shooting and some repair of machine control circuits Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools.
Maintains records, prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records of production and mechanical equipment.
Other Duties Assists to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism May operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to modify or repair equipment as required.
Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
Provides backup duties to related positions as required.
Serves on various employee or other committees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
